n 2011, I was laid off from my corporate job at DHL in Houston, TX. I opened up a clothing and accessories boutique called B&B Gear with my best friend. Shortly after in 2012, my mother’s leg was amputated, and my brother convinced me to move to Fort Worth to take of her. Also, he was not happy with his management so he offered me the position to manage his career. So, I moved home to Fort Worth, TX and accepted the opportunity to spend valuable time with mother while managing my brother’s career.

While managing my brother, he also requested that I photograph and video him while on stage for branding and social media content. I realized after two years, I really enjoyed that aspect of the position. It no longer felt like a job and it was also very relaxing. In 2013, we had the opportunity to perform on a Disney resort for a week. During this experience. I met a guy by the name of Daniel Zapata (Dan). Dan was the videographer covering the events happening at the resort. Since my brother was hosting the various events, Dan would capture his every move. At the end of each night, he would present a video illustrating everything that was captured throughout the day and the video quality was amazing. His editing skill level was impeccable. All I kept saying to myself was, “I wish I could do that.” In my head, I knew he was using a $30,000 camera and there was no way I would be able to afford that anytime soon. Little did I know, that was not the case. Dan’s camera was $3,500 and was doing the same job as a more expensive camera.
